3 Run 3, Week 7 (CT5K): Gearing Up For Bigger Challenges in the Weeks Ahead


Tonight's post is going to be short, because I'm mucho tired & don't want to stay up too late. Well, it's already 1:54 am as I write this, but I'd rather not make that any later! ;-) I desperately need to reset my internal clock, as I didn't go to sleep until 4 something in the morning yesterday. Anyhow, here's the outcome of tonight's run:

Tonight's run was the last 25-minute run of Week 7. It was around 74 degrees or so, & looked like it'd stopped raining about an hour or so before I hit the trail (which was around 12:30 am or so). There were plenty of people walking around, but thankfully weren't too many smokers on the path tonight.

I'm pretty sure I clocked sub-10's again tonight, but can't really be sure of the exact time.

Tomorrow (Sunday), as scheduled, I'm taking the day off from running, but will resume with Week 8 on Monday. I wonder if it'll feel any different running 28 minutes. It's only 3 minutes more a day, but it might be enough for me to feel the difference.

Tonight I was fairly energetic for most of the run, only tiring at the last minute or two. So, I'm thinking if I can just hold on for 3 extra minutes for next week's runs, I think it'll be fine.

Of course, how a run goes is really a day-to-day thing, as it all depends on my physical & mental state that particular day. Although I can set the stage for a potentially good physical state (by going things like resting my muscles, taking vitamins, watching my nutrition, etc.), the mental state is something that I of course have more immediate control over.

One thing I'm a bit worried about: My throat feels kind of scratchy, (it actually began to feel this way after last night's run), so perhaps my body is trying to tell me something. I really didn't want to run back-to-back runs, because it's really important to rest between runs (especially at this early stage of my conditioning), but atleast now I'm back on track. Hopefully, it won't come back to haunt me, as I can't afford to delay my running schedule any further!

Nonetheless, I'm going to rest, & do everything possible to have a good outcome. So, I'm going to start this process immediately by going to sleep right now! ;-)

Good blog. Enjoyed the polls. Keep the feet on the road.

I started out able to run only 1/2 mile and last night ran 14.5 miles. It took a long time to get to that point.
