0 Run 2, Week 4 (BOHR): Where Has My Energy Gone This Week?


I went for a run around 7:30 pm tonight. It was 75 degrees & there was a slight breeze. I was supposed to run 29 minutes but intead ran about 35 minutes total, doing my usual extra minutes to get back to the starting point.

I'm just going to come out with it: My run was slow & lackluster. I barely had any energy. But I don't think it was due to lack of appetite, which has been my usual problem over the past few weeks: Today I ate a mango smoothie & a banana, nibbled on some almonds & sun-dried tomatoes, & drank a few bottles of water throughout the day. And tonight, I'm going to have a post-run dinner of steamed vegetables & tofu with a few steamed vegetable dumplings.

I'm honestly afraid to weigh myself tomorrow morning, as I worry I'll have gained more weight, especially after eating tonight's dinner. Please note that I'm not overeating, but rather eating appropriate portion sizes.

I still worry that eating "normally" will make me gain weight, even though I'm running. And especially since my runs have been lackluster & unenergetic, I worry that it's not enough to counter the calories I'm eating during the day.

I don't want to resort to calorie-counting, as I've never been much for this eating strategy. Frankly, I think this strategy is mainly used by women who pick at their food like birds & really don't want to enjoy their food. ;-) Notice you don't see too many men counting their calories.

Yes, I despise those women who crow proudly about how they eat nothing but unsubstantial salads, & are probably repressed in more ways than one. Frankly, I'd rather base my meals around portion-sizes & just eat low-fat, nutritious whole foods.

Anyhow, enough ranting about uptight women who probably need to eat something so their blood-sugar makes them less b*tchy. ;-)

I enjoy food, & am proud of the fact. I'm not one of those wimpy eat-nothing-but-salad people. While it's certainly true that I like my veggies, I still realize that balance in one's diet is essential. Now, all I'm waiting for is my appetite to normalize, so my mind & my body can be on the same page!
